My Story...

I’ve always been a great worker. I’m a good employee. Some say I’m a great employee. I’m a good boss, and I’ve been honored to lead a team to do some really cool things throughout the years. 

 

But in the beginning, I was working for a company that frustrated me. I was frustrated with leadership, policies, everything. I was just holding on.  I was tired of seeing my work family being torn apart with mergers and cost saving measures.  

 

I found myself in a new role directing a larger region in a hybrid setting, still trying to build upon my self with leadership development programs of multiple levels through my corporation. I was still learning with the world on how to lead in the new hybrid world of business…… but I found myself stalling out when it came to mobility, growth, direction, and support from my corporate higher-ups.  And like other leaders during COVID, I was taking on more and more responsibility with not enough support.  Let’s face it, I felt whipped.  Let alone being able to hold my team accountable, re-engage them, and get them to unite.

 

I was beyond stressed and not taking care of myself physically and mentally. Looking back, I was experiencing burnout, but in the moment, I was so busy putting out fires that I didn’t have the capacity to give myself what I needed.

 

I maxed out my leadership & personal development support and realized it was up to me to continue all while finding time to devote to being a better people manager.

 

Ultimately, changes in my business created new silos that needed to be connected. That meant building new working relationships with my peers while vying for limited resources, in addition to advocating and arguing for those in my chain of command. I battled the constant change and need for improved communication and team engagement.

Then  Everything Changed

Finally, when I saw my team through a downsizing just before Christmas, I knew I needed to take a different opportunity directing my own team at a new company. 

 

I was done letting business direct me instead of the other way around.


I was eager to embrace a new culture and support a team that lacked a leader. At that point, I made the conscious decision to get better, to make my team better and to speak up and make my peers better. My executive leadership team noticed and invested in me. I was introduced to Emotional Intelligence and my leadership found a new renewed purpose.

 

It got me through the next merger and managing the new team and reduction of staff…. And that got me ready for the world to change… During COVID, I learned more about my values and what was important to me and what I needed to do to keep my family strong. 

 

One of the greatest feelings as a boss or a coach is to know that your team is performing at their best. They’re engaged. They do everything with intent. There’s a high level of team trust, and they work with the same visions and shared goals. It’s an honor to be called a great boss, to be told that I’m doing a great job, or to be told “you’re the best boss I’ve ever had.” 

 

I honestly believe there are so many leaders like me who also enjoy developing their team and seeing others grow. (If you’re reading these words, perhaps you are one of those types of leaders too.)  With the right support and direction, you can be another person’s “best boss ever.”

 

In my experiences, I have realized that the only way to truly lead is from a place of comfort and authenticity. I’ve learned that the most impactful way to build credibility is to be authentic and lead with clear values and intention.

My story from stress to authentic & credible leadership has inspired me to end up where I am today.

 

I earned my Executive MBA while also becoming a Certified Professional Coach through the industry leading and globally recognized training company the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).. Through continued coaching, I earned my ACC credentials through 120+ hours of coaching through the International Coaching Federation. 

 

You can say that I have embraced my life long passion and natural habit to help others authentically lead in business.   Coaching is part motivation, part holding leaders & teams accountable (in a way that makes them feel GREAT once they achieved their goals!)


In fact, I’m grateful for all I’ve been through in the corporate space.  I built a signature coaching method, “The Credibility Catalyst for Leaders”, that comes from direct experience through years of leading teams. Working through the toughest aspects of business and celebrating some of the great victories. It's also a combination of business acumen and the science in coaching.  My coaching and the experience of others has reinforced my general curiosity of how authentic and different we can be from one another, yet highly effective at leading and inspiring in our organizations.

  • Lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and an avid collector of all sports memorabilia.

  • Owner of an elderly English bulldog who snores.

  • Child at heart and love to play LEGOs with my two young children. As a kid, I wanted to go to space, and I learned how to build and launch model rockets. As a dad, I still launch the rockets, sometimes even without my children around.

  • Grew up in a family of cooks and chefs. I make delicious food and can probably beat you in a Beat Bobby Flay type throwdown. I have Celiac’s Disease and make my own gluten-free bagels.
